Join Us for the 2024 INWR Wallowa Weekend Adventure
July 19-21, 2024
INWR is hosting a weekend in Northeastern Oregon's stunning Wallowa region as we visit the 'Swiss Alps' of the Northwest and some of the most beautiful scenery it has to offer as we converge upon the Wallowa Lake Lodge, home base for a 2-night, 3-day stay.
UPDATE
PLEASE SEPARATELY SECURE ACCOMMODATIONS PRIOR TO REGISTERING FOR THIS EVENT AS THIS IS A HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER RESORT LOCATION. THE EVENT ITSELF IS NOT FULL BUT BOTH LODGING OPTIONS THAT WE HAD ROOM BLOCKS ARE SOLD OUT. THERE ARE OTHER NEARBY LODING OPTIONS.
You are welcome to attend all of the events available regardless of where you are staying in the area, so if you can secure accommodations elsewhere, please feel free to register until the event is at capacity (60). Nearby towns with lodging include Joseph, OR (5.9 miles), Enterprise, OR (12 miles) and Wallowa, OR (18 miles). There are VRBO and B&B type listings in the area that might work as well.
There will be multiple events/tours to choose from with a full description to follow as planning unfolds. Expect a no host welcome cocktail hour, group dinner, driving tour to Imnaha with no host lunch at the historic Imnaha Store & Tavern. There will be a trip up the tram to the top of Mt. Howard with multiple exploratory trails for varying levels of ability. You can experience the beautiful vistas along with a lunch on the top as a sample of the possibilities. NOTE -While the tram ride to the top and area surrounding the station have some wheelchair access, the trails are not wheelchair accessible.
Wallowa Lake and the surrounding area has many self-guided options for water and land recreation with wildlife galore. The lake,4,300' formed by Pleistocene glaciers is the entrance to the Eagle Cap Wilderness in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest with alpine lakes, meadows, granite peaks, and glacial valleys.
The adventure is based out of Joseph, central to the "Little Switzerland of America" and Oregon's bronze valley foundries. This small artsy town has multiple restaurants and shops to peruse as well. It is also the historical homeland of the nomadic Nez Perce Indian Tribe
