Four-State Southwest Backroads Tour
April 20 – May 1, 2026 | 12 Days, 11 Nights | 2,600+ Miles
Join your fellow PCA Vineyards Region members for an unforgettable 12-day, 4-state backroads adventure through Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and Nevada. This curated route strings together some of the Southwest’s most iconic drives and destinations: historic Bisbee, high-elevation Alpine, the dramatic spires of Monument Valley, the mining and mountain charm of Durango and Silverton, red rock country around Bryce Canyon, the waterfront oasis of Lake Las Vegas, and an optional scenic return via Joshua Tree National Park.
This is a small-group tour (only 8 rooms total) designed for relaxed pace, multiple two- and three-night stays, and plenty of time to explore, dine, and enjoy your Porsche with friends on some of the best driving roads in the West.

- Iconic Routes: AZ-191, US-550 “Million Dollar Highway” loop via Silverton and Telluride, UT-12 through Escalante, and backroads into Lake Las Vegas
- Multiple National Parks & Landmarks: Petrified Forest, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, Hoover Dam (optional), and Joshua Tree (optional on return)

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Monday, April 20
Temecula, CA → Bisbee, AZ
Longest driving day – just over 500 miles
- 8:00 am Meetup: Tractor Supply parking lot (Temecula Pkwy & Anza)
- Departure: 8:15 am sharp
- Route: Hwy 79E → S2 → Ocotillo → I-8 East
- Lunch & fuel stop near Tacna, AZ (Subway and gas)
- Continue via I-10 through Tucson to Bisbee
- Lodging: Bisbee Grand Hotel (Historic rooms, 2 nights)
Day 2 – Tuesday, April 21
Bisbee Leisure Day
- Free day to explore historic Bisbee, local shops, and mining history
- Optional Queen Mine Tour (highly recommended; sign-up details to follow)
- Evening on your own in town – plenty of great local dining options
Day 3 – Wednesday, April 22
Bisbee → Alpine, AZ (via epic Hwy 191)
- Head northeast across Arizona toward the legendary Hwy 191
- Enjoy over 100+ curves and sweeping turns climbing into the pines toward Alpine
- Elevation ~8,000 ft – expect cooler temperatures and big views
- Lodging: Long Shadow Mountain Lodge
- Dinner: Onsite restaurant
Day 4 – Thursday, April 23
Alpine → Kayenta / Monument Valley (via Petrified Forest)
- Continue north on Hwy 191 through high country
- Visit Petrified Forest National Park along the way
- Continue to Kayenta, gateway to Monument Valley
- Lodging: Kayenta Hampton Inn (includes breakfast, fitness room, pool/spa)
Day 5 – Friday, April 24
Monument Valley → Mesa Verde → Durango, CO
- Morning to explore Monument Valley and take in the iconic red rock vistas
- Drive northeast to Mesa Verde National Park for cliff dwellings and viewpoints
- Continue on to Durango, Colorado
- Lodging: Durango Hampton Inn – 3 nights
- Includes breakfast, fitness room, pool/spa
Day 6 – Saturday, April 25
Durango Leisure Day
- Free day to enjoy downtown Durango, shops, galleries, and local restaurants
- Optional activities may include the Durango–Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (on your own)
Day 7 – Sunday, April 26
Durango → Silverton → Telluride → Durango (Loop)
- Drive the famous Hwy 550 to Silverton, then continue CCW loop via Telluride
- Lunch stop in Telluride (on your own)
- Complete the loop and return to Durango for a relaxing evening
Day 8 – Monday, April 27
Durango → Canyonlands → Green River, UT
- Head northwest via Hwy 191 toward Canyonlands National Park
- Take in some of Utah’s most striking canyon scenery
- Continue to Green River, Utah
- Lodging: River Terrace Lodge – riverside rooms overlooking the Green River
Day 9 – Tuesday, April 28
Green River → Capitol Reef → Escalante → Bryce Canyon City
- Travel southwest via Hwy 24 through Capitol Reef National Park
- Continue along spectacular Hwy 12 through Escalante and the Grand Staircase region
- Arrive at Bryce Canyon City
- Lodging: Bryce Canyon Pines (just outside Bryce Canyon National Park)
- Onsite restaurant for dinner and breakfast options
Day 10 – Wednesday, April 29
Bryce Canyon City → Lake Las Vegas, NV
- Head west on Hwy 14, then follow scenic backroads including Hwy 169 south toward Lake Mead area
- Arrive at Lake Las Vegas for a well-earned resort stay
- Lodging: Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa – 2 nights
Day 11 – Thursday, April 30
Lake Las Vegas Leisure Day
- Enjoy a full leisure day at the resort – pool, spa, lakeside walks, and village dining
- Optional short drive to Hoover Dam for sightseeing and photos
Day 12 – Friday, May 1
Lake Las Vegas → Southern California (Return Options)
Choose your preferred route home:
- Direct Route: I-15 south back to SoCal (~290 miles), or
- Scenic Route:
- Hwy 95 to Joshua Tree National Park
- Continue through Palm Springs, then Hwy 74 & 371 back toward Temecula (~350 miles)
Tour Cost & Registration
- Tour Cost: $2,250 per room
- Includes 11 nights of lodging accommodations
- Small group: only 8 rooms total (ideal for 4 couples + 4 singles, or similar mix)
- Not Included (Self-Pay):
- All dining (breakfasts not provided by hotels), drinks, fuel, and incidental expenses
- Optional activities and tours
- National Park Entry Fees:
- Entrance to most National Parks on this itinerary is currently $20 per car if the driver is over age 62 (rates subject to change).
Payment Schedule
- $250 Registration Deposit – holds your spot
- Final Payment: $2,000 (single or couple) due 30 days before departure
