About this event
Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas, Birdcage Maseratis, and Porsche 718 RSKs, oh my!
Join us for a fun audiovisual journey though the history of racing in Colorado. Chris Lennon will host this amazing night, with our featured speakers, Mike Collins, 1960 PPIHC Sportscar champ, and PPIHC legend David Donner. We will get to see some amazing photography and stories from the 1960s racing scene in Colorado. You won’t believe the people and cars who raced here at tracks like La Junta Raceway, Continental Divide Raceways (CDR), and on Pikes Peak.
By the way, if you haven’t watched the movies “Ferrari” and “Ford vs. Ferrari” recently, you might want to before this talk. You will see some cars and people familiar to you from these movies! Mike Collins, along with David’s father Bob raced and often won against the cream of the crop in this era. You’ll even get to see La Junta Raceway with all of the old Army Air Corps buildings still standing, and of course, the long-gone CDR, which you drive past every time you drive I-25 south of Castle Rock, likely without realizing it.
Following this feast for the eyes and ears, enjoy a delicious dinner and continue the bench racing!
